Activity Descriptions
Sign Language & Music: Learn sign language in a group with new signs introduced each week. Musical theory, instrument identification, and rhythms using games and other musical exercises.
Gallery Art: Create handcrafted keepsakes, mementos, and artisan goods. Consider donating or consigning them in our curated Crafter’s Corner in the All In Arts Studio. Focus will be on marketable pieces created in a variety of mediums.
Theater Arts & Comic Creation: We will begin by devising a new play for the spring/summer then dive into scripts development, staging, props, and overall performance for a finished piece. We will explore physical and vocal techniques, improvising scenes to create dialogue, developing back stories and motivations for characters in our play and comics. Looking at basic shapes, proportions, gestures, light/shadow, facial expressions and perspective, we will find ways to elaborate on the characters we love to draw and create mini scenes with dialogue.
Collaboration Creation: Work in pairs, small triads, or as a large group to create collaborative art pieces to adorn our space. Use flexibility, communication, community skills, and creativity to contribute to the aesthetic of Mosaic.
Storytelling Studio: We will explore ways to use our bodies to tell a story. Building mime, breath, and gesture techniques to convey meaning non-verbally. Using various drama starters such as poems, folk tales, and open scenes, we will explore basic storytelling structure and develop a better understanding of plot development. Creative writing portions will be included to write our own stories “in role” and poem starters to transcribe our lived experiences into poetry.
Film Club: Devise and execute our own “mini films”. Story development, costume creation, and basic editing for those interested.
Art with Bayloo: Art collaboration with our Artist in Residence, Bayloo. Working with individuals to make art into a sellable product.
Self-Advocacy: Encouraging the use of self-expression and exploring choice within everyday life.
Arts and Community Building: Encouraging growth and self-esteem through arts and community.
